When you hear the word "Yamanashi" what are some of the keywords that come to mind?
It's magnificent nature, fruits, wine, and jewelry!
Crystals were once mined in Yamanashi Prefecture and with polishing techniques passed on from Kyoto, crystal polishing was developed, which laid the foundation for the jewelry production area. Yamanashi is a rare jewelry production center on a global scale where jewelry processing techniques such as precious metal processing, gem polishing and crystal art sculpturing alongside various jewelry-related companies and workshops are gathered all in
one place.
Since its opening, the museum has been a place where you can become more familiar with jewelry, and learn of the beauty and splendor of Yamanashi's jewelry backed by its reliable technology.
The museum collection is an expressive work by craftsmen highly skilled in their respective fields, and designers who create charming and creative designs using their abundance of knowledge on gemstones and the local technology.
As this exhibition will open just as the seasons change and the cold winter winds begin to warm, we hope to showcase many pieces that will bring about feelings of summer and spring. This exhibition will also focus on works that express the abundant beauty of Yamanashi and will make you want to dance in joy if you ever wear them.
