Japan Wine Competition 2019 Award results

Japan Wine Competition 2019 took place on the 17th and 18th of July in 2019.
A panel of 25 judges, including Professor Gilles de Revel, Director of Wine Education at the University of Bordeaux, Lynne Sheriff MW, former Chair of the Institute of Masters of Wine, wine journalists Denis Gastin (Australia) and Monty Waldin (UK), judged the wines rigorously and fairly.

›A sensory evaluation was carried out.
›20-point scale evaluation based on criteria such as color, limpidity, taste, flavor, odor and harmony.
›Awards criteria
GOLD PRIZE: Above 17 points, equivalent to 3`5“ of each categories' entries
SILVER PRIZE: Between 15.5 and 17 points, equivalent to 10`15“ of each categories' entries
BRONZE PRIZE: Between 14 and 15.5 points
ENCOURAGEMENT PRIZE: Between 13 and 14 points
BEST CATEGORY PRIZE: The highest score in each category (however, if the highest score is not equivalent to the Silver Prize, a Best Category Prize is not granted)
BEST GREAT VALUE PRIZE: The highest score of each category that received either Gold or Silver Prize and priced under 2,000 yen.
