Rolling professional Nissei, providing eco-friendly rolling with regard to both processing times and energy!
“Rolling” is the most suitable type of processing for this era because it does not involve heating and does not produce shavings. Nissei’s rolling machines, which carry out rolling, are recognized for their low energy usage, low noise, low heat generation, and long-lived tools, and they have been certified by the Japan Forming Machinery Association as “MF Eco Machines.” Nissei has precise rolling machines with outstanding durability that shape metals just how its clients want them, and this makes the company a pro among pros.

Rolling is a process in which shapes are created by a rolling action. It is a method of plastic forming in which rod-shaped materials are rotated applying a strong force, and then shaped through the movements of tools called rolling dies. This method was originally developed for the processing of “screws,” but it is now also used for the processing of machine element parts that are rotating symmetry bodies, such as splines, serrations, and worms.
Nissei is a rolling professional that produced taps and dies when it was first established, and began to sell rolling machines in the mid 1950s. The company specializes in the manufacture of the only cylindrical die rolling machines in Japan. Many of the cylindrical die rolling machines use two-die rolling machines, and three-die rolling machines are used for the processing of thin-walled hollow materials.
Nissei’s unique product is a rolling machine that is equipped with CNC controls and has superior functions compared to conventional machines. The company’s rolling machine, which is digitally controlled through numerical commands via a computer program, won the “Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers Award” in 2002 for being a best-in-the-world technology that other companies cannot copy.
Unlike cutting, rolling is an eco-friendly process that does not involve heating and does not produce shavings. It is also eco-friendly in that processing can be done in a significantly shorter amount of time. Rolling does not waste materials, has steady processing precision, boosts the strength of materials, achieves improvements in surface roughness, and has short processing times. It is thus a process that can provide huge reductions in cost. Nissei’s unique machines also ensure precision, which is a weak point of rolling.
Nissei’s question “Shall we roll more?” convincingly expresses the company’s absolute confidence in rolling processing. "Rolling is on the side of both the times and manufacturing, and it can be applied extensively. Shall we roll more?"
Nissei’s president named the company’s top products “Comet,” “Galaxy,” and “Aries.” These romantic names seem to be derived from looking up from the world of machines toward the sky.

Super Rolling Lubrication (SRL) Oil improves tool life and is the first oil in the industry specifically for rolling processing. Nissei was involved in the development of the oil and has promoted its sale. Tool maintenance is an important issue, and it can incur large expenses. SRL Oil is outstanding in terms of tool life and providing support for manufacturing companies.
Rolling technology has resulted in the invention of a product that has surprised the world. The Perfect Lock Bolt (PLB) is a screw that does not loosen as the result of two types of nuts with different pitches.
Nissei has achieved twice the strength of a cutting screw of the same radius and same material. Also, even though the screw does not loosen, it is possible to attach and release it. Taking a closer look at this complex invention, there are unexpected features that cannot be easily explained, and the outer nut advances in a different manner in order to physically block the inner nut. Even strong screws will loosen due to factors such as vibration over long periods of time. Such loosening is completely blocked, using a method other than adhesion. It has already passed vibration tests by The Japan Quality Assurance Association (JQA) in accordance with the stipulations of National Aerospace Standard (NAS) 3354 of the United States, and has confirmation through the European Standard Junker test that there is no loosening whatsoever. There will likely be an increasing number of sales routes for the screws, starting with usage in aircraft, which absolutely cannot afford to have loose screws.
Rolling appears to be a stable processing technology, but global technologies are advancing everyday. Nissei sells to the markets of India and China, but it is not considering the manufacture of machines overseas. In the field where technology continues to evolve, reflecting the notion that prosperity is fleeting, Nissei cannot afford to become complacent in its current first-place spot. As such, the company must maintain its top position by continuously pursuing, inventing, and creating products that other companies cannot match. Nissei always approaches its work with these challenges in mind.
The key to further advancing rolling will be human resources. Nissei is focusing on developing its personnel. The most important factor is people power. Nissei’s president says that currently his personal motto is “value people.”

The company also values its business partners. Nissei holds rolling technology support training sessions in order to provide support to companies that are having trouble with passing on technologies from experienced engineers to young employees. Nissei is being highly praised for holding these training sessions, at which participants learn everything from the basics of how to use various rolling machines to applications and general knowledge about rolling processing. The content includes “what is rolling processing?” and “reviewing setups for old machines,” and it is possible for participants to request instruction on specific topics.
Nissei will move forward with its strong belief in rolling, and protect, adopt, apply, and develop its rolling technologies. The company will absolutely not loosen its policies as it asks the question: “Shall we roll more?”

Nissei is a top-class global manufacturer that utilizes its many years working with tap and die processing technologies, to manufacture and sell CNC precision control rolling machines with the aim of providing high precision processing at low costs. The company has developed a loosening-prevention screw called the “Perfect Lock Bolt (PLB),” making use of its original ideas and the rolling technologies that it has developed. Nissei is thus receiving a great deal of attention. |
