If You Notice Cases of Child Abuse

Do not turn your back on the problem of child abuse.

Over the years, cases relating to child abuse within Yamanashi Prefecture have risen. In 2003 alone, there were 209 cases of child abuse reported to the Prefecture's child consultation center.

Child abuse can have a detrimental effect on the body and mind of a child, and can damage a child's personality development. Therefore if you detect cases of child abuse, it is important that you take swift measures.

If you suspect a case of child abuse, indicated by (but are not limited to) the following conditions, please report it to your nearest child consultation center, local public health and welfare department, or city welfare office. Please rest assured that your privacy will be protected and that your report will be treated with the appropriate discretion.

- Frequent occurrences of angry voices and/or sounds of physical abuse, in addition to the crying voice of a child
- The child displays evidence of internal bleeding and/or suspicious wounds
