Mt. Fuji in Winter

Ice Festival, Lake Sai & Lake Kawaguchi

Gather ‘round the dazzling displays of mysteriously lit ice pillars and 10 meter high, frost-covered trees in the chilly shadow of Mt. Fuji. Get your fill of art done on canvases of ice.

     Where: Lake Sai Wild Bird Park & Lake Kawaguchi Ooike Park

     Access: A 40-minute ride on the Retro Bus from Kawaguchiko Station (Fujikyuu Line)

     Dates: From Late January to Mid-February

 

Diamond Fuji Week & Ice Candle Festival, Yamanakako

Thousands of candles, each encased in a unique ice lantern line the shores of Lake Yamanaka. Stop by on the 6th or 13th for a candle lighting ceremony and fireworks.

     Where: The shores of Lake Yamanaka

     Access: A 35-minute bus ride from Fujiyoshida Station (Fujikyuu Line)

     Dates: Monday, February 1st – Monday, February 22nd

 

Earliest Blossom Viewing in Japan, Fuefuki

You can picnic among the blossoming trees without having to worry about frigid northern winds or cold, rainy days; it’s always pleasant weather inside this greenhouse.

     Access: A 15-minute taxi ride from Isawa-Onsen Station (Chuo Line)

     Admission:  500 Yen 

     Dates: Sunday, February 14th – Mid-March
